Russia and Ukraine Friendship Accord (RUFA)

By Steve Everett

In my opinion the great peoples and nations of Russia and Ukraine deserve more than just peace they deserve friendship. My thoughts for a few possible ways this might be achieved below.

Russia and Ukraine agree to return to the national territorial border lines that existed in 2013 except Crimea would now be neither Ukrainian or Russian but instead a newly created independent nation. The economies and citizens of Ukraine and Russia could then flourish with free trade between the two nations and Crimea would have the potential to become what some might refer to as Singapore on the Black Sea.

Complete amnesty for all political and military personnel for both countries so that these two nations, and the world, can more quickly move forward.

Ukraine would retain the option to join the EU in the future if they so desired but would agree to not join NATO. Russia would receive guarantees for efforts to be made for as frictionless as possible trade with the EU.

The United Nations would set up a Russia/Ukraine dispute resolution panel or structure to assist with resolving any future Ukraine/Russia trade disputes or any other kind of disagreements in the future between the two nations.
